STCW Basic Safety Training is a three day course consisting of four important component courses for any mariner.
***Students are asked to bring a bathing suit and towel on Wednesday for pool exercises.***
• General Physical Fitness for Practical Demonstration
• Ability to swim
On Friday during the Basic Firefighting Portion of the course, students will be attending the CT Fire Academy. They will be in charge of finding their own transportation.

Under the terminology of the STCW Convention, Basic Safety Training is made up of the above four courses. Any applicant who has successfully completed the 24-hour Basic Safety Training Refresher course will be considered to have demonstrated continued proficiency in Basic Safety Training, provided that they have been previously issued an STCW 95 certificate.
Any applicant who has successfully completed the Basic Training Refresher (NOREMI-68) course will satisfy the continued competency requirements for STCW Basic Training in STCW, as amended 2010, Basic Training in Section A-VI/1, 46 CFR 11.302(e) and 46 CFR 12.602(e), AND, all of the tasks from the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVIC 08-14.
Applicants are not required to present completed record of assessment sheets when applying for the STCW endorsement.
